Abstract
1,038,582. Electric motors. J. R. O. DELALOYE. Jan. 15, 1965 [Jan. 23, 1964; Nov. 30, 1964], No. 1920/65. Heading H2A. In a self-starting synchronous motor having a permanent-magnet rotor 2 and a one-way ratchet 20, interdigitated axial poles are formed in a magnetic cylinder 4 within field coil 3 by a series of triangular shaped holes 6, 8, 10 having rounded ends. A mild-steel tube 12 provides a flux-return path. The one-way ratchet consists of an eccentric 20 pivoted at 14 and catching a pin 14 projecting from the rotor on a pawl tooth 23 when rotation is reversed. The rotor may be ferrite.
