1,155,465. Synchronous motors having permanent magnet rotors. CROUZET. 29 July, 1966 [30 July, 1965], No. 34090/66. Heading H2A. In a synchronous motor having a permanent magnet rotor 1 rotating coaxially within an exciter coil 6 contained in a box-like stator 5 having circumferentially distributed poles, some of the poles are formed by pairs of teeth 5a, 5b and the rest are formed by single eg. 5a, diametrically opposed teeth are of opposite polarity, and teeth of opposite polarity are so displaced that certain ones are contiguous and saturate whereas non-contiguous do not whereby the rotor is pulled asymmetrically and rendered self-starting.
