Abstract

The colours of furs and skins are restored, in particular after cleaning with soaps, shampoos or other detergents, by treating them with a solution containing water, sulphonated castor oil, glycerine, and sodium hydroxide. The solution may also contain sulphonated luryl alcohol and arsenic trioxide. The solution may be diluted with water or an organic solvent, e.g. perchloroethylene, turpentine or white spirit, in the ratio of 1 fluid ounce of the solution to 1 gallon of the water or organic solvent and applied to the furs or skins by spraying. The treated furs or skins may then be dried and brushed to remove any dirt particles.ALSO:The colours of fabrics are restored, in particular after cleaning with soaps, shampoos or other detergents, by treating them with a solution containing water, sulphonated castor oil, glycerine, and sodium hydroxide. The solution may also contain sulphonated lauryl alcohol and arsenic trioxide. The solution may be diluted with water or an organic solvent, e.g. perchloroethylene, turpentine or white spirit, in the ratio of 1 fluid ounce of the solution to 1 gallon of the water or organic solvent and applied to the fabric by spraying and the fabric then dried and brushed to remove dirt particles and deposit if any. Clothing, curtains and carpets made from the natural or man-made fibres may be treated. The process is also effective in de-shining the surfaces of the fabrics.
