Abstract

1,038,083. Circuits employing bi-stable magnetic devices. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Nov. 12, 1962 [Aug. 10, 1961], No. 28968/61. Heading H3B. [Also in Division G4] In an accumulator (see Division G4) a shift register 29 and associated gates employ apertured magnetic cores as shown. An OR gate is as described in Specification 1,018,614 and comprises cores A x , A y , B q , linked by winding 40. An AND gate is as described in Specification 1,018,615 and comprises cores B p , Bq, A y , B n linked by winding 41. An EXCLUSIVE OR gate is as described in Specification 1,018,617, and comprises cores B q , B n , A 1 linked by winding 28. The shift register comprises two sets A 1 ... A n , B 1 ... B n of cores which are interconnected as shown, each core being capable of being in a " 0 " state, a " 1 " state, or a " primed 1 " state. If a core A 1 (Fig. 4, not shown) is in the " primed 1 " state, a clearing pulse through winding 10A induces a current in the output winding 9A 1 which is effective to set the core B 1 to the " 1 " state. This core may now be primed by a pulse on winding 8B and subsequently cleared by a pulse on winding 10B. Backward transfer of information in the shift register is prevented by threading each clearing winding through all the smaller apertures in the other set of cores (Fig. 5, not shown).
