Abstract

1,037,787. Cleaning windows and windscreens. TRICO-FOLBERTH Ltd. Sept. 5, 1963 [Sept. 10, 1962], No. 34536/62. Heading A4F. A window or a vehicle windscreen is provided with an ultrasonic transducer for the loosening of dirt on its surface. The transducer may be in the form of a stationary disc emitting a beam radially parallel to the glass surface, or is of a strip radiating inwardly from an edge of the glass. The windscreen 10 illustrated in Fig. 1 has two disc-shaped transducers 12 each emitting approximately a 90 degrees beam covering half the windscreen. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) there are two strip-shaped transducers extending along the side edges of the screen. The ultrasonic transducer or transducers may either supplement or replace a windscreen wiper. A transducer may be carried by an oscillating arm in the manner of a wiper blade.
