878,431. Windscreens. HEIMER, A. F. Oct. 20, 1959 [Oct. 27, 1958; Dec. 19, 1958], No. 35531/59. Class 20(3) In order to create an optically dead space at the junction of two angularly related windows, such as the side window 2 and windscreen 3 of a motor car, to e.g. a driver's place 5 between the windows and closer to the side window 2, than the other window 3 the window edges or supports 13 at the junction falling within said dead space, the junction end 6 of the pane 2 is cut obliquely to the driver's place and forms one boundary of the dead space while the other boundary is formed by the unbroken path of a ray of light tangential to the junction edge of the closer window and extending to the driver's place 5. Preferably the pane 2 has several times the thickness of the pane 3 and may have parallel sides or decrease in thickness towards the junction at a rate of a fraction of one degree.
