1,037,125. Drying rubber compositions. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. Feb. 27, 1964 [March 16, 1963], No. 8246/64. Heading F4G. In apparatus for drying water-containing rubber compositions, the material is extruded through the nozzle plate 4 of a worm press at high temperature into a tubular expansion chamber 5 together with air which may be heated from an annular nozzle 6 about the nozzle 4, at a temperature and pressure such that the steam produced after extrusion remains superheated, and passing from the chamber 5 which has a diameter at most twice the diameter of the extruder nozzle via a conveyer pipe 7 to a cyclone separator 8.
