Abstract

1,036,650. Ash receptacles. COMBUSTION ENGINEERING Inc. Dec. 17, 1964 [Dec. 30, 1963], No. 51456/64. Heading F4B. A heat and splash screen for an ash receptacle, particularly for a steam generator, comprises a wire mesh screen surrounding an ash outlet above the receptacle and extending into the receptacle. The outlet of the hopper bottom 16 of a tube wall steam generator is surrounded by a wire mesh screen 34 secured to the tubes 18 forming the bottom of the steam generator and extending into the ash receiving water trap 26. A water seal comprising plates 32 and troughs 30 surrounds the lower part of the steam generator. The screen 34 is formed of wire mesh members 36 folded on themselves, the edges being secured to the tubes 18, and has expansion joints formed by single wire mesh sheets each secured between one folded sheet and sliding in the fold of the adjacent sheet. The corners are formed by single sheets forming further expansion joints.
