Apparatus for transferring baking-tins 3, Fig. 2, from an endless belt conveyer 1, e.g. an oven unloading conveyer, to an endless belt conveyer 2 comprises a plurality of tines 32, Fig. 1, slidably connected to a bar 19 provided with rollers 24, 25 which run between guide flanges of channels 16, 17, when the bar 19 is horizontally reciprocated by a pair of endless chains 63, a pneumatically or hydraulically operated piston 41 being provided for lifting and lowering the tines 32 in timed sequence with the reciprocation of the bar 19 to give the tines 32 a substantially figure-of-eight path of movement, and fingers 8b being provided on the conveyer 2 to ensure separation of the tins 3 from the tines 32. The bar 19 has bushes 28 in which are slidably mounted rods 29 connected to a Z-shaped support member 30 carrying the tines 32, the piston 41 being connected to the member 30 and working in a cylinder 39 mounted on the bar 19 and provided with fluid connections 44, 45. The chains 63 are driven by a motor M-3 through a reduction unit 48 and chains 51 and 56 and are connected to the bar 19 by a pair of links 65. The conveyers 1 and 2 are driven by motors M1 and M2, respectively, Fig. 4, and a plurality of cams 73 . . . 76 associated with switches 85 . . . 89 are mounted on a shaft 72 and disposed in a housing 71, Fig. 1, the cams operating to open and close the switches to give the tines the substantially figure-of-eight movement shown in chain lines in Fig. 2. The motor M3 can only be started on an operation cycle when tins 3 are in position on the conveyer 1 to block a light beam associated with a photo-electric cell 83, Fig. 4, and the conveyer 2 is temporarily stopped when a tin 3 is delivered thereto.
