Electric apparatus to prevent water in a circulatory heating system freezing when the primary heat source is inoperative comprises a container 10 containing electrical heating means 14 and having an inlet 11 and outlet 12 at different levels connected into said system, and a thermally operated-switch actuating and cutting out both the heating means and an electric pump in the system at respective predetermined low and high water temperatures. The sensing member 15 of the switch is situated in the container or elsewhere in the system.
