Abstract
103,473. Axilrod, M. Jan. 18, 1916, [Convention date]. Sewing-machines; starting and stopping gear.- In combined clutch and brake operating gear for sewing-machines &c. the lever 22, 25 operating the sliding clutch pulley 21 carries an additional slotted arm 40 engaged by a bolt 42 in a slotted support 43 for a brake 44, which engages the pulley 21 when the clutch is disengaged. The lever arm 25 engages recesses in a sleeve 27 on the pulley boss 28, or bears against the boss end. The clutch parts 21, 20 may be adjusted on the driving-shaft 3, and the shaft is carried in bearings 4 which may be adjusted laterally by screws in a yoke 8 on a rod 9 vertically adjustable in a bracket 10. The brake block may be adjusted to correspond with the axial and vertical movements of the pulley 21.
