Abstract
8269. Susek, F. April 18,1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Fans.-A fan is operated from the rocker A of a chair, or a foot-pedal, by means of gearing enclosed in a box 1 and carried by a wall plate 12 and a bracket 9. The fan spindle is adjustably mounted in a rotary sleeve 6 connected by bevel-gearing with a spindle 13. The rocker or pedal is bolted to an oscillating lever, which is pivoted on a lower spindle 21 and provided with a toothed segment 22 gearing with a pinion mounted on a loose clutch member 16. The member 16, Fig. 4, is normally kept in engagement by a spring 19 with a fixed clutch member 15, and enables a continuous rotary motion to be imparted to the fan. When operated by a foot-pedal, the oscillating lever is retracted by a spring.
