Abstract

1,034,448. Microwave ovens for moving products. TAPPAN CO. Jan. 5, 1965, No. 449/65. Heading H5H. A high-frequency oven for heating food products 26 transported on an insulating conveyer belt 18 comprises a fixed metal portion 10 energized by a magnetron 11 and having a flange 13 co-operable with a hollow metal bottom 15 vertically movable by a piston-rod 16. The upper and lower portions of the belt 18 pass respectively between members 13, 15 and through member 15, the spacing between members 13, 15 normally being such as to permit unimpeded passage of food products along the belt. In operation, a product is moved into alignment with member 10 after which the bottom is raised to complete the oven enclosure, the belt material being of low loss dielectric material which prevents leakage of energy during operation of the magnetron 11.
