Abstract

1,033,996. Door stays. L. W. MENZIMER. April 25, 1964, No. 17239/64. Heading E2F. In a device for checking and retaining a door in the open position e.g. for use on vehicle doors, an arm 21 which is pivotally connected to the door 12 engages opposed friction pads located within a slot 22 in a plate mounted on the door frame 14 and has a stop 35 provided at its free end to limit the door opening. To increase the frictional resistance over the final opening stage the arm, formed in two pieces may have two inclined ramp portions 34 or may have diverging ramps 43, 44, Fig. 10 (not shown). Alternatively the arm 21 may be pivotably connected to the frame 14. The arm may be formed of a single thickness of material.
