Abstract
An impression moulding composition comprises a dihydroxy terminated polysiloxane, two filling materials one having a particle size of 28 to 60m and the other 10 to 30 mm , together with a cross-linking agent such as a C1- 4 alkyl ester of silicic or titanic acid which is incorporated immediately prior to use with or without a hardening catalyst, e.g. a fatty acid ester of a C1- 4 alkyl tin compound. The only siloxanes exemplified are dihydroxy terminated dimethyl polysiloxanes. Specified fillers are oxides of silicon, titanium, iron and aluminium, graphite, and metals, e.g. Al, Cu, Ni, Co and Cr. In examples the respective larger and smaller fillers are barium sulphate and silica, and quartz and ferric oxide. In further examples the pH is adjusted to alkaline with calcium oxide or acid with calcium dihydrophosphate.
