Abstract

1,033,643. Upholstered seats & c . DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 13, 1963 [June 26, 1962], No. 24430/62. Heading A4M. A plastic, e.g. polyvinyl chloride sheet, upholstery cover 8 has a top and side walls in which grooves 12 are moulded at least to extend over the top portion. The cover 8 comprises back and seat portions 9 and 10 respectively which overlie a layer 5 of padding such as rubber, polyurethane or PVC foams or springs, secured to a baseboard 1, the edges of the cover 8 being secured by clips 16 to the rim 15 of the basebord 1. Aligned holes 13, 6 and 7 in the cover 8, layer 5 and baseboard 1 respectively provide ventilation. The cover 8 may be slush-moulded or vacuum-formed with grooves 12 having a depth less than twice their width, and the moulded cover 8 then placed in a supporting mould and charged with a polyurethane composition which is allowed to foam. The grooves may have beaded portions.
