Abstract

1,032,911. Froth flotation apparatus. K. NAKAMURA. Jan.22, 1963,.No. 2668/63. Heading B2H. Aerated pulp produced by an impeller at the base of a froth flotation tank is said to take an expanding spiral upward path towards the overflow rim of the tank. Surrounding the impeller is a cage of vanes which direct the froth produced by the impeller blades. An inverted truncated cone 10, see Fig. 4 may surround the cage of blades 5 containing the impeller 3. Air is drawn down a tube 2 containing the impeller shaft. Pulp is introduced at 12 and extracted at 11. Instead of the cone 10 the base of the flotation tank 1 may be conical to encourage outward spiral motion of the bubble stream. A flange 4 overlies the impeller to inhibit downward return flow of the pulp.
