Abstract

1,032,824. Cartons. A. S. L. OWENSMITH. March 15, 1963 [March 15, 1962], No. 9923/62. Heading B8P. A carton has rectangular side panels A1, A2, A3, A4, end panels R with marginal folded flaps which project outwardly from the interior of the carton so that the ends are inset and extension panels B, B1 which when brought together form a handle. Other extension panels C, C1 are folded into the carton to prevent the ends from falling inwards and notches V can be cut in the carton blank so that the carton can be secured by an elastic band. The rectangular side panels can be of varying sizes and the end panels of varying shape so that non- rectangular section cartons can be produced. In a modification, the marginal flaps T are dispensed with and the end panels inset by inclining them to the bottom panel. Eyelets may be provided in the handle portions. Flaps may be cut in any of the panels to locate articles in the carton and apertures may also be cut so that articles may protrude through the carton. Finger holes may be cut in the end panels to facilitate opening.
