Abstract
1,032,624. Bolts; nuts; sockets; securing bolts and nuts against loss; nails. MOULDED FASTENERS Ltd. Oct. 12, 1962 [Oct. 12, 1961], No. 36646/61. Heading F2H. [Also in Division E2] A sheet such as a printed circuit board 18 is secured to a support such as a chassis 19, Fig. 3, by a fastener, Fig. 2, of nylon or P.T.F.E. and the shank has a serrated or screw-threaded portion 11 for co-action with serrations or threads in a spacing socket 20 (secured by deforming, as at 21, a reduced end located in a hole in the chassis 19) when the fastener is driven home without rotation through a hole in the sheet 18 into the socket 20. Rotation need only be used for unfastening of the screw-threaded form. The fastener head is elongated laterally as indicated, of generally rectangular form in plan although the ends may be rounded, Fig. 1 (not shown), and acts like two spring fingers particularly because of the inclined undersurfaces 16, 17. The bore of the socket 20 may be closed at one end. The two flanks of the screw-thread 11 may be of unequal inclinations to give easy insertion but difficult withdrawal of the fastener. Such fasteners may be used to attach a coverplate in which they are captive by virtue of the enlarged thread portion 11 whose minor diameter may equal that of the plain shank 10.
