Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1031538/C2/1> wherein R1 is a chloro-substituted or unsubstituted C1-C8 alkyl radical or a di-(C1-C2 alkyl) amido radical, phenyl (except when R2 is a C1-C8 alkoxy group and the CN group is in the para-position), chloroaryl, alkaryl, alkenyl or aralkenyl radical, R2 is a C1-C8 alkoxy radical, a di-(C1-C2 alkyl) amido radical or aryl radical and X is an O or S atom. They may be obtained by reacting a compound of the formula (R1)(R2)P(X)Hal wherein Hal is a halogen atom with a cyanophenol in the presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor at between 0 DEG and 100 DEG C., preferably in the presence of an organic solvent. The products have pesticidal properties (see Division A5).ALSO:Pests are controlled by contacting them with a pesticidal amount of at least one compound of the general formula:- <FORM:1031538/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 is a chloro-substituted or unsubstituted C1-C8 alkyl radical or a di(C1-C2 alkyl) amido radical, phenyl (except when R2 is a C1-C8 alkoxy group and the CN group is in the para position), chloroaryl, alkaryl, alkenyl or aralkenyl radical, R2 is a C1-C8 alkoxy or di (C1-C2) alkylamido radical or an aryl radical and X is O or S. The compound may be used undiluted or in the form of an aqueous dispersion, aqueous or non-aqueous solution, wettable powder, vapour or dust. A suitable dispersion is obtained by dissolving the compound in acetone and then diluting with water containing a wetting agent.
