Abstract

103,081. Mortier, G. A. Aug. 19, 1916. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and rubber-ring and like cushions.-A rigid metal or other ring of I-section is embedded in a solid rubber tyre and spaced from the felloe. The sides of the tyre are gripped between ring-plates 4 secured to the felloe and formed with inwardly projecting ribs lying between the inner and outer walls of the ring. The outer wall 7 may be concave so as to provide an air space 9 in the tyre. The outer surfaces of the inner wall may have recesses or continuous grooves 8 so as to facilitate the distortion of the rubber under compression. Fig. 2 shows the ring formed of two members so as to be divided vertically.
