Non-metallic elastic bodies and cores.-Relates to block tyres of the kind in which the blocks are secured to the rim by means of circular frames formed with dovetailed apertures in the base throngh which the blocks are inserted. The india-rubber blocks H, Figs. 1, 2, 10, 11, are spaced at the tread and formed at one end with a lip K. The bases are dovetailed transversely and circumferentially, and may be fitted with blocks L of wood. Supporting-wires J may be embedded. The blocks are inserted through the apertures in the base of the frame F which is drawn on a tapering felloe-band E by bolts passing through lugs F<1>. Two series of blocks in staggered order may be secured similarly to a double-conical felloe. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the frame is in sections and secured by radial bolts Z passing through or between the transverse parts thereof. In the form shown in Figs. 12 and 13 the frame consists of a base F<1> and transverse walls F, and the blocks are inserted at the sides. Plates N with inwardly sloping parts are then secured by transverse bolts. In this case the felloe is cylindrical, and in a twin staggered form the base is formed with a central dovetailed rib or partition.
