Abstract

1,030,744. Teapot &c. handles. ALAN SILVERWOOD Ltd. Sept. 2, 1963 [June 2, 1962], No. 21362/62. Heading A4A. Axially split metal sleeves 6 are inserted in recesses 14 in arms 13 of a moulded thermosetting resin handle 12 and receive, as a force fit, projections 4 from a jug, tea-pot &c. The projections are formed as rivets having flat heads spot-welded to the jug &c. and the tapering sleeves, which have a short slit 11 opposite the axial split 10 are opened by the rivets to fit tightly in the bores 14. The handle is pushed home until the ends of the arms abut the wall of the jug, the head of the rivet being received in a counterbore 15 in the recess 14. The counterbore may be filled with synthetic resin adhesive.
