Abstract
1,029,724. Multiple-retractable ball-point pens. REAL PATENTAUSWERTUNGSANSTALT. Feb. 25, 1964 [March 6, 1963], No. 7734/64. Heading B6P. In a multiple retractable ball-point pen, two push buttons c, c<SP>1</SP> are provided, each associated with its own cartridge element h, h<SP>1</SP>. An intermediate member, Fig. 4, is positioned between the push buttons and comprises a base d, provided with two holes to accommodate the cartridge elements, two uprights d 1 and d 2 and a cross-piece d,. The intermediate member is positioned as shown in Fig. 1 between the top of the lower barrel portion b, and the underside of a cross member or flange a formed at the top of the upper barrel portion i. Two latching elements f, f 1 are provided on the uprights d 1 and d 2 and the intermediate member is made of a resilient material such as synthetic plastic or metal. Each push button c is provided with a plate-like projection j. In the retracted position the projection j is positioned in the space y of the intermediate member, as in Fig. 4. In the projected position the projection j is positioned in the space r, as in Fig. 5 (not shown). As a push button is depressed into the projected position, the projection j passes between the latching elements f, f 1 , forcing the uprights d, d, apart and allowing the previously projected push button to retract under the force of the spring e. The rear of the projection j latches behind the latching elements f, f 1 , maintaining the push button in the projected position.
