Abstract

1,029,487. Glazing. WINDOW PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Nov. 18, 1963, No. 45431/ 63. Heading E1R. A heat insulating metal frame for closure panels 30, 32 comprises two frame components 18, 20 each having a base portion 40 and a channel section 42, 44, the channel sections housing a substantially T-section resilient member 22 having a wedging portion 66 engaging depending flanges 50 to urge the inner ends of the base portions into close contact with the panels 30, 32. The panels, which may be light transmitting or opaque, are separated by a dessicant holder 34 and bound with a sealing strip 26 of non-metallic heat insulating material. To assemble the frame, pressure is applied to the lower ends of the base portions 40 to compress the wedging portion 66 and allow the closure panels to be inserted between the base members to rest on the upper surfaces of the channel flanges 42. In a modification, Fig. 5, the frame components 88, 90 are formed from sheet metal and the heat-insulating resilient member 92 is of arcuate section in unstressed condition, with grooves 122, 120 for the reception of the flanges of the frame component. A circular harder core may be provided in the resilient member to act as a fulcrum and the wedging portion may be torn off and inserted separately.
