Abstract
1,029,457. Diffusion pumps. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE FRANCAISE DES TUBES ELECTRONIQUES. Nov. 6, 1964 [Nov. 8, 1963], No. 45312/64. Heading F1E. [Also in Division Bl] In a device for reducing oil loss in oil-vapour diffusion pumps during the fitting of evacuated enclosures or during the accidental ingress of air, the oil vapour flowing through nozzle 3 from the pump strikes the cavity wall 1 and passes through orifice a and deflecting vent hole b. The emerging vapour condenses on wall 1, which is cooled by water circulation through pipe 4, and returns in liquid form through orifices d and e to the pump. Separated gas flows through pipe 5 to the primary pump. If the oil is only aerated it flows through a calibrated annular gap between flange 9 and wall 1 into space V 2 , orifice a and space V 3. The occluded air is released through vent holes b and liquid oil drains through orifices d, e and through notch F.
