Abstract

1,029,255. Cartons for yarn packages. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. Feb. 5, 1965 [March 3, 1964], No. 5168/65. Heading B8P. A carton assembly 10 comprises a top pad 18 and a bottom pad 12 each with a plurality of locating means, 20, 14, respectively, for supporting stacks of yarn packages 22 wound on yarn tubes 24, the packages being separated from each other by holding pads 16 having openings 28 to register with the interior of the yarn tubes 24 so that a plurality of holding tubes 26 can be inserted on top of each other and with their ends intermediate the ends of the yarn tubes 24 to prevent lateral movement of the holding pads 16. The pads 12, 16 and 18 are essentially the same size as the inside of the carton and are of paper or corrugated board construction, the bottom pad 12 and the top pad 18 having triangular or other shaped projections 14, 20, respectively, for locating the yarn tubes 24. The yarn tubes 24 and holding tubes 26 are made of hard paper or plastics. The stacks of pads, yarn packages and tubes are formed as shown in the box bottom 30 and the box top 32 is placed over the bottom 30 and strapping applied.
