Abstract

1,028,824. Mowers. RANSOMES, SIMS AND JEFFERIES Ltd. April 10, 1964 [April 22, 1963], No. 15753/63. Heading A1F. A mowing machine of the kind comprising two spaced end plates 9 between which extend a member 1, a bottom cutting blade 13, a cutting reel 11 and a skid plate 21 which is adjustable to vary the height of cut, is characterized in that the skid plate is carried by two arms 15 releasably clamped by bolt 19 and adjustable relative to the end plates, the skid plate being adjustable about an axis parallel to the reel axis so that its leading edge contacts the underside of the bottom blade in any position within the range of movement of arms 15. The skid plate 21 is secured to each arm 15 by a bolt and clamping nut 27 passing through registering apertures in lugs carried by the arms 15 and plate 21. In a modification the skid plate is secured to a boss located on the lower end of the arm and having an arcuate profile matching the shape of the upper surface of the skid plate.
