Abstract

Impact-resistant thermoplastic materials are made by blending polyvinyl chloride with a graft polymer having a K-value of 60 to 100 which is composed of 25 to 80% by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 30 to 55% by weight, and 70 to 20% by weight of vinyl chloride incorporated therewith by graft polymerization, the ratio of the polymeric ingredients in the composition being such that the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer constitutes between 5 and 20% of the total mixture. The graft polymer may be made by dispersing particles of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer in water, mixing vinyl chloride therewith and then polymerizing with the aid of cyclohexane sulphonyl peroxide.
