Abstract
1,027,442. Hot water boilers. SOC. D'- ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION D. E. CHAUDIERS EN ACIER SECCACIER. Jan. 31, 1963 [July 6 1962 (3)], No. 4002/63. Headings F4A and F4B. A solid fuel hot water boiler comprises a storage hopper 1, electric motor-driven means for feeding fuel to the grate 4, and a motordriven blower, not shown, supplying air through the grate, a flue connecting the grate with an outlet 25, and a number of water chambers 13 located in the flue in spaced-apart relation so that the gases can pass round all sides of at least some of these chambers. A thermostatic switch 16, Fig. 2 (not shown), is responsive to the water temperature to start and stop the fuel feed and blower motors simultaneously. The fuel is fed on to, and clinker discharged from, the grate by a pusher 3 driven through reduction gear 9. A rheostat or a change-speed gear may vary the speed. In another embodiment, water chambers 18, 19, Fig. 3 (not shown), overlap to provide a sinuous gas path including a horizontal passage between inspection covers 23, 24. In a further form, Figs. 5 to 7 (not shown), the heat exchanger comprises a number of water chambers 29 parallel to the gas flow arranged between respective return and outflow terminal boxes 30, 31. The end boxes are joined through the chambers 29 by lower and upper boxes 34, 35. The exchanger is closed at the rear by an additional water chamber 26 1 .
