Abstract

1,027,370. Spray-producers; flame torches. EUTECTIC WELDING ALLOYS CORPORATION. Dec. 19,1963 [Sept. 17,1963], No. 50237/63. Heading B2F. In a powder-fed flame spraying torch 10, Fig. 1, the powder container 20 is secured to the torch through a connector cup 18, connection between the neck 22 of the container and the cup being effected through interengaging screw threads 32. The coupling between the neck and the cup is so arranged that air is allowed to percolate up through the powder whilst the torch is being used. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown), air feeding slots 26A and 36A are formed in the neck 22A whilst Fig. 19- also not shown-shows a form via which the slot 26 is present in the threads of the cup 18. Whilst being stored away from the torch the container, which may be of polyethylene, is closed by a plug and cap device FOA, Fig. 5 (not shown). In a modified form the coupling between the neck and the cup comprises a tapered resilient circumferential protruberance on the neck which is a snap-fit within a corresponding annular recess on the cup, the neck being formed with slots 26A and 36A. In yet a further embodiment the container is sealed with a rubber-like plug device 50C having rupturable diaphragms 60C and 58C, Fig. 12 (not shown), the diaphragms being pierced by tubes 66C and 64C, respectively, carried by the cup 18c, Fig. 14 (not shown). The slots 26C and 36C are formed in the neck 22C and the plug 50C, respectively. In the embodiment of Figs. 23 and 27 (not shown) the container 20E and cup 18E are coupled through a bayonet-type connection 84E and 76E. The neck of the container carries a locking ring 86E and the container incorporates an end wall in the form of a bellows. Air percolates to the interior of the container through a dot 70E formed in the cup.
