Abstract

1,026,834. Drying apparatus. VALMET OY. Dec. 6, 1963, No. 48214/63. Heading F4G. A cylinder drying apparatus for a web 3 comprises heated gas distributing pipes 1 mounted transversely to the direction of travel of the web in the pockets 2 formed by the web. The pipe is open at both funnel-like ends 7 for the axial introduction of a compressed primary gas supply through nozzles 9 carried on supply conduits, which gas causes an injector effect to create a flow of secondary drying gas, viz. atmospheric air, from the ends 7 into the pipe for distribution through discharge holes 4. The funnel-like ends 7 preferably have curving walls and lead to constrictions 6 acting as diffusers.
