Abstract

1,026,589. Fabric covering for walls and ceilings; clamps. I. V. ABADJIEFF. Nov. 9, 1964, No. 45528/64. Headings E1V and E2B. Fabric 14 for covering structures such as walls or ceilings is mounted and stretched by a channel 16 secured to the structure, the edge of the fabric being sandwiched between the inside of the channel 16 and a plurality of clips 34 each terminating in inclined portions 40, 42 which resiliently engage behind inwardly directed terminal portions 26, 28 of the channel 16, each clip 34 having a lock 46 in the form of a strip which is rotatable so that its end portions engage the ends of the clip 34 to force the clip into tight locking engagement with the channel 16. Fabric holding points 44, Fig. 3 (not shown) provided on the clip 34, are directed to retain the tension in the stretched fabric 14. A snap-in trim strap 64 completes the installation. In modifications, Figs. 7 and 10 (not shown) the fabric holding points 86, 108 respectively are provided on a separate device mounted on the clip and operable on by screw means to be urged away from the clip and against the fabric 14. Modified forms of channels, Fig. 6 (not shown) and clip, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown) are described. Also described is a tool, Fig. 2 (not shown) which magnetically retains the clip during the assembling operation, and functions as a key to rotate the lock into its locked position.
