An eight-core group in a telecommunication cable has the cores so plaited together that four spaced cores have a right-hand lay and the other four a left-hand lay. A filler may be located in the centre of the group. A number of such groups may be combined to form a cable, each group having different lay lengths or equal lay lengths but different twists.
