Abstract

In a photographic camera adapted for interchangeable lenses of different maximum apertures and having means for effecting automatic control of diaphragm setting in accordance with photoelectric scene brightness measurement wherein a stepped meter needle follow-up plate determines the diaphragm adjustment, the followup plate is movable in a direction other than this follow-up direction in accordance with the maximum aperture of the lens in use. As shown, the photo-electric exposure meter 4 has two integral needles 5a, 5b, the latter being visible over a scale 6a centred on the meter axis 4a. On depression of the camera release, a clamping plate 7 is moved downwardly to hold the needle 5a against a raised flange on the support 3 and thereafter the plate 10 moves downwardly until the stepped member 11 engages the clamped needle and also moves a similar distance, a control member 19 controlling the diaphragm aperture. To take account of the maximum aperture of the lens in use, each lens is provided with an appropriate control surface which on attaching the lens to the camera moves a control pin 16 which via a lever 15 displaces a slide 14 carrying a pin 13 connected to the member 11 which is slidably mounted in the plate 10.
