Abstract
933,586. Photographic cameras. AGFA A.G. Jan. 22, 1960 [Jan. 31, 1959], No. 2505/60. Class 98 (1). In a twin lens reflex camera with a pivoted blade shutter in which the lenses are so closely adjacent that the shutter housing would normally obstruct the view finder beam, the shutter housing at the side adjacent the view finder objective has a recess for allowing the view finder beam to pass, into which recess the corresponding shutter blade or blades pivot in opening of the shutter. As shown, shutter housing parts 35 and 38 of a twin-lens camera, between which parts the shutter blades 33 pivot, include a recess 32 for allowing the view finder beam to pass unobscured. The shutter aperture 40 is flattened at 41, 42 to improve light proofing and, for the same purpose, a U-shaped blade spring 43 secured to housing portion 38 by screws 44 is provided with an arcuate screening flange 45 normally covering the passage 54 in which the shutter blades pivot, but moved out of the path of the blades during exposure by means of a rod 53 having projections 47 penetrating apertures 46 in the spring 43 and being coupled by way of a bell-crank lever 50 to a release pin 6. The shutter release 52 is also actuated by the lever 50. Shutter speed 10 and diaphragm aperture 9 setting rings are rotatable about the whole objective tube 8. Ring 10 is coupled by way of pin-andslot connection 30, 31 to shutter control ring 28, and ring 9 is coupled by way of fork 24 and pin 25 to diaphragm control ring 26. Rings 9, 10 may be coupled together for setting in terms of light values, the control surfaces of fork 24 and slot 31 may be cam-shaped for linearizing the setting ranges of the rings 9 and 10, and the rings may be coupled in known manner with a follow up pointer or an automatic exposure regulating device. Focusing ring 11 rotatable in objective tube 8, is coupled through an intermediate ring 15 and a screw thread 19 to an axially movable objective plate 20 supporting both lenses. In modifications, rod 53 may be coupled to or spring 43 may be directly deflected by a working part of the shutter mechanism. One only of the setting rings 9 and 10 may be provided on the tube 8, the other accommodated within the camera housing being coupled in known manner to an automatic exposure regulating device.
