1,025,496. Propelling mine cars. G. DUSTERLOH FABRIK FUR BERGWERKSBEDARF G.m.b.H. April 9, 1964 [May 30, 1963], No. 14691/64. Heading B7L. An hydraulic advancer for mine cars has two actuators 16, 19 interconnected by hydraulic transmission 14, the actuator pistons 17, 20 moving faster at the start of the forward stroke and throughout the return stroke than during the rest of the forward stroke, the advancer having a control valve 22 controlled by the pressure of fluid acting on pistons 29, 33. A main pump 3 and a feed pump 4 pass fluid back to a tank 10 via lines 6, 7, 11 and valves 8, 9, 5 until, to operate the advancer, valve 5 is closed causing a pressure build up in line 11 to cause valves 8, 9 to deliver fluid from the pumps to lines 12, 13. From line 12 fluid passes through valve 15 to move piston 17 and fluid displaced by piston 17 with fluid from lines 13 and 13A and transmission 14 acts through duct 18 on piston 20 to rapidly return the piston. Fluid from ahead of piston 20 passing to tank 10 via valves &c. 15, 21, 22, 23, 24. When piston 17 passes line 25A, fluid acts via shuttle valve 27 on piston 29 to reverse valve 22 against a weak spring 30. Piston 20 then has applied to its right-hand face fluid from ahead of piston 17 via lines &c. 18, 14, 13, 22, 21, 15 and fluid from pump 4 via lines &c. 7, 13, 22. When piston 17 passes duct 18 pressure builds up in line 31 and causes piston 32B to change over valve 15. Pressure fluid in transmission 14 acts via cylinder 19, line 25B and shuttle valve 26 on piston 29 and as the same pressure acts on piston 33, the spring 30 changes over valve 22. Only main pump 3 delivers fluid to piston 20 via valve 15, the piston therefore advances at normal speed. Fluid displaced by piston 20 acts via lines &c. 18, 34, 31, together with fluid from pump 4 via lines &c. 7, 9, 13, 14, 34, 31, to rapidly return the piston 17; when piston 17 passes duct 18 the fluid passes directly through this duct into actuator 16. The cycle then repeats. Should the advancer be overloaded, the fluid from pump 3 is returned to tank 10 via valve 8. The actuators have several closable bores where line 25 can be connected to adjust the stroke of the advancer.
