Abstract
1,024,673. Adjusting means. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Jan. 25, 1962 [Jan. 31, 1962], No. 3252/63. Heading H3Q. In an arrangement for the adjustment of a matching circuit 11, Fig. 1 (not shown) (e.g. a JC-network), between an aerial and a transmitter or receiver, the circuit capacitance 12 is adjusted by an arm 15, the circuit inductance is adjusted by an arm 16, the arms are positioned by respective concentric rings of screws 18, 19 in a disc 21, the disc is rotated by a servo-motor 7 in a servo-system 1 . . . 7 by an amount, and in a direction, dependent on the position of the wiper of a potentiometer 1, the arms are biased into engagement with the screws and electromagnets 22, 23 provide for disengagement of the arms from the screws when disc 21 is in motion. The circumferential positions of the threaded holes in the respective rings are staggered so that arms 15 and 16 are only engaged by screws in respective rings. A second disc 20, fixed to disc 21, affords actuation of a wave-change switch 13 when there is rotation to a given position. The engagement and disengagement of arms 15, 16 may be effected by eccentric discs, Fig. 2 (not shown).
