Abstract

1,024,556. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. H. G. C. FAIRWEATHER (L. A. MICALLEF and W. LEEDS). May 6, 1963, No. 17852/63. Heading F1R. In a dispenser comprising a flexible bag 4, for the liquid to be dispensed, mounted in a container 1 charged with gas, e.g. air, under pressure, the bag 4 comprises upper and lower discs 5, 6 (Fig. 4, not shown), e.g. of polyethylene, joined at their perimeters, e.g. by heat sealing, the perimeter of the bag being greater than the perimeter of the adjacent portion of the container. The bag outlet neck 7 has inward projections 9 to prevent closure by wall 5, which is of thinner material than wall 6. Bag neck 7 is fitted over the container delivery valve stem. The delivery valve comprises a ball 10 opened by depression of the flexible upper wall of a cap 16 attached, e.g. by cement, to container 1. A delivery nozzle 18 in cap 16 comprises a horizontal slit which opens when cap 16 is depressed. A rigid cap, e.g. of celluloid, may be fitted over cap 16 to prevent accidental operation. Container 1 may be pressurized before or after bag 4 is fitted.
