Abstract
102,412. Diggle, S., and Carter, J. P. Feb. 24, 1916. Screw propellers.-Relates to hollow resilient metal propellers suitable for aerial and marine vessels. An H-shaped girder, consisting of a vertical steel plate A having lugs A<1> passed through slots B' in upper and lower steel plates B and riveted thereto, forms the backbone of the propeller and is stiffened by transverse webs F, to which are secured wires J, which in turn are fastened to the outer plates. In a modification, the skeleton is made of wire. A blade so constructed is attached directly to the propeller shaft by the bolts L<2>, P, brackets L, and the slotted lug M, as shown in Fig. 5, or to the shaft is adjustably secured, so as to allow alteration of pitch, a dovetail plate W, Fig. 7, to which the shank T of the blade is attached by the bolts U.
