Abstract

1,023,875. Valves. WALTER KIDDE CO. Ltd. Oct. 8, 1964 [Oct. 23, 1963], No. 41921/63. Heading F2V. A release valve comprises a housing 1, Fig. 2 (not shown), having an inlet 2 and outlet 8. A piston member 11 is slidable in the housing and has a projection 10 which co-operates with a seating 9. Gas from the inlet also flows to the rear face of the piston through a restricted passageway 14. To open the valve, the gas acting on the rear face is released by opening a tilt valve 18. This valve is actuated by a cam 3 which may be rotated by a pull cord connected to a pulley 4 or by an electric motor. A second passage 22 is provided in the piston to ensure flow to the rear face when the piston abuts a boss 16.
