Abstract

1,023,854. Valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 1, 1963, No. 30559/63. Heading F2V. A valve, e.g. for gaseous fuel, comprises an inlet 2, Fig. 1, not shown, and outlet 3 and ports 11 and 12 closed by members 20 and 14 respectively. A rod 23, which expands upon being heated by the electrical element 27, is connected to the member 20 and to a ring 35. The ring 35 engages a flexible disc 29 near its periphery so that upon expansion of the rod the disc 29 is pushed beyond a central position to snap against the stem 15 and open the member 14 against the action of the spring 18. Further expansion of the rod 23 causes the member 20 to open against the spring 25, the disc 29 being hard against an abutment 16. Cooling of the rod 23 reverses the action. An adjustable plug 13 controls the flow through the port 12.
