In an oil-vapour diffusion pump the pump body 1 or ejector 6 has at least three axiallyspaced annular rings projecting into the annular space 14 to form annular gaps which successively decrease in radial size towards the boiler. Each gap retains by surface tension a ring of oil which prevents the upward diffusion of oil vapour through space 14. Oil returns to the boiler from drip nib 15. The pumps are used as units of a rotary turret automatic system for the production of electron tubes.
