Abstract
1,170,972. Spinning rings. MERRIMAN, Inc. 28 April, 1967, No. 19617/67. Heading DID. A porous spinning ring 2 having a groove 6, 7, 8 on its outer surface is mounted in a split ring 9 (see also Fig. 1 not shown) which fits within the groove and has on its inner vertical surface a number of circumferentially extending teeth 34 of small size, the teeth cooperating with the surface 6 of the ring to form a series of circumferential passages about which oil may flow, there being means to deliver oil to the passages. The oil may be supplied from a pressure source feeding a number of rings or by gravity from a container associated with the ring. The oil passes through a duct 22 in holder 9 to a slot cut at right angles to the passages. The teeth may be formed by a continuous thread. The vertical engaging surfaces of ring and holder may be convex or concave.
