Abstract
An inorganic non-metallic gasket sheeting stable at temperatures up to 1000 DEG C. is composed of 50 to 98% by weight of synthetic tetrasilicic fluorine-mica platelets and 2 to 50% of inorganic fibrous material having a length-to-width ratio of 10 : 1. The fibrous material is siliceous, aluminiferous or titaniferous; examples are: asbestos, potassium titanate fibre, aluminium silicate glass fibre, fused acid-leached silica-glass fibre, and fused silica-glass fibre. The sheet may be made by adding the fibres to a suspension of the synthetic mica, beating, depositing on a screen and removing the water by drainage, vacuum, heat or a combination of these.
