[Also in Division B3] A structural composite member comprises an aluminium or alloy thereof sheet, e.g. 0À063 inches thick in which is embedded reinforcing woven wire or knitted mesh or parallel wires of 0À002/0À015 dia. stainless steel, tungsten or alloys thereof or cobalt or alloys therof. The memberismadebycompacting a stack of alternate layers of sheets and reinforcing members, (see Division B3). The wires may form from 1%-12% by volume of the composite.
