Abstract

1,022,441. Liquid fuel burners. KARMA (NEW MALDEN) Ltd. April 26, 1962 [April 26, 1961], No. 15050/61. Heading F4T. In a heating appliance including a perforated shell or short drum burner 1 fed from a reservoir 7 in which a constant level 10 is maintained by a bird-fountain supply, fitting of the appliance towards the burner automatically reduces the fuel supply to the burner. Fuel from the reservoir 7 passes through a vertical slot 9 in a partition 8 to a chamber 6 and thence via a supply pipe 5 to the burner trough 3. On tilting the appliance towards the burner the area of the slot 9 through which fuel can pass is reduced and on tilting the appliance away from the burner an increased supply of fuel is permitted. In modifications (not shown) a plurality of slots or other shaped apertures may be provided and the apertures may be tapering and/or inclined and may overlap. In a further construction (not shown) the feed pipe 5 extends upwardly into the chamber 6 above the normal level of fuel therein and apertures are provided in the extension.
