Abstract

1,021,982. Actuation of switches. SQUARE D CO. Dec. 18, 1963 [Jan. 14, 1963], No. 49899/63. Heading H2B. A lever 23 actuated circuit breaker 20 mounted in a cabinet 1 such as that described in Specification 997,860 is operated by a handle 15 mounted on the housing and coupled to lever 23 by a linkage arranged to allow for a degree of misalignment between the breaker and housing. The handle 15 pivoted at 16 operates a link 25 between two positions moving a spring 45 overcentre to provide snap-action. Link 25 is hinged at 30 to another link 28 which is pivoted at 32 to a double armed lever 33 having two right-angled branches 40, 41 in which are slots 42, 43. Mounted directly upon the circuitbreaker, a bracket 55 supports a slide 50 having an aperture 52 engaging the actuating lever 23 of the trip free circuit breaker. Motion is transmitted from lever 33 to slide 50 by a bent rod 70 journalled in side-plates 59, 80 of the bracket 55 and having a portion 72 pivoted to slide 50 and a portion 71 engaging slots 42, 43 of branches 40, 41 of lever 33. Rod 70 can slide in slots 42, 43 and in a slot 73 in slide 50 to take up some misalignment. Further misalignment is overcome by journalling rod 70 in a shaped opening 81 in the side-plate 80.
