1,021,737. Mass coloration of polyamides. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 6, 1964 [May 8, 1963], No. 18204/63. Heading C3R. A process for the mass coloration of a synthetic linear polyamide comprises using as colouring matter the 1 : 2-chromium complex of 4<SP>1</SP> - (2-carboxybenzene-azo)-1<SP>1</SP>-phenyl-3<SP>1</SP>- methyl-pyrazolone or an alkali metal or ammonium salt thereof. The colouring matter may be incorporated with the polyamide by addition to the monomers of prepolymers, by tumbling with chips of the polyamide, by injection into the melt pool during a spinning operation or by dyeing chips of the polyamide in an aqueous dispersion of the colouring matter.
