Abstract

1,215,472. Spin-dyed polyamides. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 13 Dec., 1967 [15 Dec., 1966], No. 56545/67. Heading C3R. Spin-dyed linear synthetic polyamides are prepared by forming a dye concentrate by uniformly distributing a 2: 1 chromium complex dye of an azo pyrazolone where X is R is OH, R 1 is H or CH 3 , or R and R 1 together form an > NH bridge, R 2 is H, CH 3 , or Cl, R 3 is H, Cl, NO 2 or -SO 2 NH 2 , and R 4 is H or Cl, in a minor portion of the polyamide, mixing the dye concentrate with the major portion of the polyamide and spinning the mass obtained by a melt-spinning process. Preferably the concentrate has a dye concentration of 5 to 30% by weight and comprises 0À1 to 20% by weight of the total mass to be spun. Mixtures of the chromium complex dyes or mixed complex dyes obtained by chroming mixtures of the aforementioned azo pyrazolones may be used and additives such as pigments or dehuterants (e.g. TiO 2 or C black) anti-aging agents or viscosity stabilizers may be present in the polyamide. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 994,388.
